At Banks Music Publications, we pride ourselves on our service. Being a relatively small, privately owned business, we are able to provide a personal approach to the provision of choral and organ music. We hope you find our website both informative and easy to use and we are genuinely interested to hear any views you may have on our site. If, however you want to give us a call you can be assured of our best attention at all times. In the days of automated phone systems, we hope you will appreciate being able to get straight through to a knowledgeable and friendly member of staff who will deal with your request immediately or transfer you to someone who can help. Whilst investing in future technologies, we firmly believe that there is no substitute for consistent personal service focused on delivering to the needs of our customers again and again.
History
Banks Music Publications was established by Ramsay Silver (1931 – 1996). He worked for Oxford University Press for several years and in 1972 he bought the publishing side of Banks Music, York. Ramsay was passionate about quality music and choral music in particular. Soon after he established the company he made the decision to specialise in choral music. Since Ramsay’s death the company has continued under the ownership of his wife Margaret, with Rosemary Goodwin as manager.
Location
In May 2008 we moved to brand new offices in beautifully converted farm buildings, 13 miles from our old location at Sand Hutton where we had been for the past 25 years. We have been able to streamline the business and make the service we offer even better. Later in the year we hope to be able to welcome you to a new Choral Centre, where you will be able to browse through choral binders of both our own publications and those of other publishers. A keyboard will be available for your use.
Publishing
The Eboracum Choral Series contains over 400 titles mainly by modern composers and arrangers. Dr. Francis Jackson, the highly respected Yorkshire composer and organist has been the series’ general editor for many years. We have recently introduced a new series: The Eboracum Popular Choral Series in response to the growing number of requests for lighter repertoire. In addition to choral music, we publish a select number of pieces for organ, piano, voice, and other solo instruments.
