Gwyn Arch
Gwyn Arch began his teaching career as Head of English in a large secondary school,
subsequently becoming Director of Music at Bulmershe College of Higher Education,
Reading, where he was chiefly concerned with the training of Music Graduates as future
music specialists in schools. His college choir represented the U.K. seven times in the
International rounds of the BBC competition "Let the Peoples Sing".
In the last twenty years he has mostly been concentrating on choral arranging and has published over 300 arrangements for mixed voice, male, female and youth choirs with major publishers In the UK, Germany and Austria. His work is performed all over the English-speaking world. He examined for the Associated Board for ten years, and his adjudication work has included the Bela Bartok International contest in Hungary, the Cork and Sligo International Festivals, the Elgar Choral Festival, the National Festival of Music for Youth and the National Male Voice Choral Competition. He has conducted his local choral society for over 40 years and also continues to direct Reading Male Voice Choir which he founded in 1971.
In December 2006 he was awarded the MBE for services to Music in Berkshire.
