The Bath Missa Brevis was commissioned for Bath Abbey Choir and Dr Peter King with funds made generously available by Ann Taylor. Scored for SATB and organ, it is a rousing and quirky setting of the Missa Brevis with a virtuoso organ part. An unsettled mood at the start of the Kyrie develops into a more optimistic feel with an energetic and dynamic Gloria; the momentum and excitement build towards a dramatic conclusion. The Sanctus continues the work's sense of exhilaration and forward movement, with soaring vocal lines; the tender Benedictus provides a gentle contrast
to the earlier unsettled mood. The Agnus Dei provides beauty and solace to bring the work to a satisfied and tender conclusion. The Bath Missa Brevis was first performed by Bath Abbey Choir during their Christmas services in December 2015 conducted by the composer, with Peter King at the organ.
