Malcolm Riley's volume Percy Whitlock - A Biographical Study, drew critical acclaim when it was published in 1998. Since then the music of Percy Whitlock (1903-46) has been extensively recorded and performed and continues to enjoy wide popularity.
This Companion brings together, for the first time, Whitlock's surviving personal correspondence, arranged chronologically from 1918-46, supplemented by his articles written for The Musical Times, Musical Opinion and The Organ. In addition there are several extended extracts taken from his diaries and a short, autobiographical story, "Country Holiday" which was rediscovered in 2006.
