Commissioned by Joy Hill and the Royal College of Music Junior Department, this expressive new carol sets beautiful words by Paul Williamson. A poetic exultation at the birth of Christ is interspersed with the angelic hymn Gloria in excelsis Deo. The quietly passionate setting gradually builds towards the final chorus with moving descant, until the final bars die away to create an intimate and peaceful conclusion.
