This carol was originally written for a recording session with the world-renowned vocal group VOCES8, with whom Thomas has had the pleasure of working on many occasions.
A gentle, winding melody in F major rises and falls as the expressive words (written by his regular collaborator Paul Williamson) celebrate the arrival of the holy child in Bethlehem. The final verse includes a luscious descant, rising above the warmth of added note harmony in the voices.
