Compositions by Ian Higginson

Ian is an accomplished award-winning composer originally from Merseyside, now living and working in Gloucestershire. His many compositions include choral music ranging from Christmas carols, anthems, motets, liturgical music, and secular songs. In addition, he composes music for organ, piano, flute and voice, many of which are also used as set pieces for grades and diplomas on various examination boards. In addition to choirs performing Ian’s music both in the UK and the US, some works have also been commissioned by the RLPO orchestra and chorus, Bangor Cathedral, Brecon Cathedral, Isle of Man Cathedral and St Asaph Cathedral in North Wales.

Many of Ian’s choral works are performed by choirs large and small, professional and amateur and are published by Animus Publications, ABRSM Publishing, Boosey & Hawkes, Lorenz Inc. (US), Parish Publications, St. James Music Publishing (US), Parish Publications and Trinity Exams Publishing.

In addition, Ian is Principal of the TCSM (Three Counties School of Music) and University Fellow and Assistant Professor of in the Sacred Music Faculty of the Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi University in the United States, where he teaches composition on the Masters’ Course.

Ian frequently accepts commissions of sacred and secular repertoire suitable for choral societies, Church/Cathedral choirs, choral societies, youth choirs and community choirs plus organ, piano, instrumental, orchestral and chamber works.
