The original sketch for this piece was workd out in 1943. Case was still serving in the Army and was granted special leave to conduct the first and only performance by the choral society at Bishop Wordsworth's School in Salisbury in July 1944.

The second performance will take place 71 years later on Remembrance Sunday, November 8th 2015 at St Barnabas Cathedral in Nottingham.

Included in the score is a fascinating introduction by Garry Humphreys, a friend, colleague and author of John's obituary in the Independent newspaper and writer of two articles about him in the Finzi Friends' Journal.
